Transfer a domain

Move a domain you already own to Nexus Cloud so renewals, billing, and nameservers sit with the rest of your account.

Before you start

1. Unlock the domain at your current registrar.
2. Disable WHOIS privacy temporarily if your current registrar requires it for transfers.
3. Request the EPP / auth code from the current registrar.
4. Confirm the registrant email can receive the transfer approval message.

Transfers usually add one year to the remaining term (TLD rules vary).

Start the transfer

1. Open Transfer a domain.
2. Enter the domain name and EPP / auth code.
3. Complete checkout.
4. Approve the transfer email if the losing registrar or registry sends one.

Most transfers complete within a few days. .uk / .co.uk transfers follow Nominet’s IPS tag process and can complete faster once the tag is released.

After the transfer

The domain appears under Domains in the client area. Renewals then invoice through Nexus Cloud. Update nameservers if you want the name to point at Nexus hosting — see Nameservers & pointing.
