Dev vs Prod Indexes
Kuzzle — Dev vs Prod Indexes
Every Kuzzle subscription includes separate production and development indexes.
Naming
| Environment | Index name |
|---|---|
| Production | {prefix}_{serviceId} |
| Development | {production-index}-dev |
Prefix comes from checkout or the module default. Names are lowercased and sanitized to alphanumeric, _, and -.
When to use dev
- Testing new mappings or collections
- Staging server (
projectz-dev, local FXServer, etc.) - Experimenting with scripts without affecting live player data
When to use prod
- Live game server players connect here
- TMC
Config.Server.Kuzzle.Indexshould match production unless you intentionally run a staging environment
Data isolation
Dev and prod do not share data. Changes in dev must be promoted manually (export/import or scripted migration) — plan schema changes accordingly.
Typical workflow
- Point staging FiveM server at dev index
- Validate features and mappings
- Apply mapping updates to prod (coordinate with support if template mappings change)
- Point live server at prod index only after testing
Credentials
Welcome email lists both index names. Server API keys are for backend use; ensure staging and live servers use the correct index and keys for their environment.
